The pen broke last night
when I asked it to go
wordless.
The night stopped being
scary to hide behind
my colorful dreams.
At the bus stop
he covered his face with
a newspaper that said
Silence is healthy for
noisy souls.
The voice in my head
was tired finally
when I did not give
it anything to chew.
A squirrel wants to
ignore me to enjoy
solitude and wild berries.
I want to ignore it too
and breathe in the silence.

19th Day of A to Z Challenge. Today, S is for my another favorite word Silence, though I’m not really that silent.
Today is also 22nd April, Earth Day. I saw too many status messages about the day since morning. I wanted to write a blog post on it. But then I changed my plan. For a change, I’ll re-pot my plants today, save electricity, walk, make garlic green pasta, save water, and finally find out ways to stop those junk mails in my mailbox ( not email. The real one.) to save paper( and trees).
What do you want to do for our earth on Earth day and everyday from today? And do you love silence?
You are very talented Archita. My blessings are always with you.
Thank you so much, Indira. I love silence. 🙂 Thank you for sharing it. It’s an honor. 🙂 It’s all because of your blessings. 🙂
Best choice for S. Loved every word of it.
Thank you. 🙂
Thank you for your wonderful suggestion. Hopefully now I can stop wasting papers. 🙂
Thank you, Lisa. 🙂 It was a wonderful Earth day here. 🙂
Nilanjana, Thank you for your beautiful comment. 🙂 I’m glad to meet you here too. 🙂
Beautiful words to celebrate silence. I love its textures too. Here from the A-Z, and glad I stopped here, truly enjoyed your poem.
All the best,
Nilanjana.
Madly-in-Verse
It sounds like you found the perfect way to celebrate Earth Day. 🙂
Loved your post. I stopped my mail a while ago so there is little that is delivered, just a random advertisement and one or two bills. I do everything on line now to include all banking. Sign up at your post office or maybe on line to request them to stop all junk mail. It is worth it.
“The voice in my head
was tired finally
when I did not give
it anything to chew” – Bravo!
vow……the silence goes out screaming loud until or unless get broken……till we share the moment called LIFE.
