During a drive from Reno, we stopped to capture sunset in Carson City. Carson city is one beautiful little place and also the capital of the state of Nevada. It’s also the place I recently fell in love with, and clicked more than a dozen pictures in half an hour.
I named this picture: solitude in winter, because…on that windy, wintry evening, just like me, that tree was delighted too, enjoying alone time with that bright orange sunset sky. Even though the leaves were fallen, and the tree did not look green anymore, it looked more alive in darker time.
you’re welcome 🙂
Ha ha! I agree with you about trees being a favorite subject. Though no matter how much I try the real moment makes the better memory. Photographs cannot carry that vividness of the sunset time. 🙂 Thank you for stopping by here and sharing your beautiful words. 🙂
Thank you. 🙂
Love your photo and composition. It made me think about people and that once stripped down during the dark days they an become more beautiful because their inner being shows. Trees are my favorite subject matter whether taking a photo or drawing. When I returned from trips with my children we would show my Mom the photos and she could never understand why most of them were of trees. Love visiting your site!!
This is just beautiful composition 🙂
Thank you very much, Sonel. 😀 Always glad to see you here. 🙂
What a stunning shot Archita and the best example for Solitude. You’ve aced it. 😀 ♥
🙂 🙂
That’s the nicest thing I heard! Thank you. 🙂
Patrick, Tree against the sky is becoming my photography muse these days. Thank you for your kind words. Thank you for the recommendation as well. I will surely visit the State History Museum next time I visit Carson City. I am sure it’s going to be a beautiful visit. 🙂
Janet, thank you for the visit and your kind words. 🙂 That moment was very peaceful, and the camera could only capture 5% of it.
Thank you, Rob. 🙂
Thank you, Suyash. 🙂
Thank you for the visit, Victoria. Reno is truly the biggest little city in the world, and truly beautiful. 🙂 I can tell you where I found this little gem 🙂
I know just where that is…I’m a Renoite!
Beautiful colors and lovely composition…:)
Nice photo
Your photo makes me feel at peace. I also like times of solitude, both in nature and elsewhere. I hope you have many peaceful moments in 2015.

Trees against a sunrise or sunset makes a very interesting picture. I love how the foreground is dark and the sky alive with the beauty of the sun at the end of the day. Next time you are in Carson City, check out the State History Museum. I went there as a kid and remember a mine exhibit they created in the basement that feels like a real silver mine. When my children were younger I took them there and the mine exhibit was just as I remembered.
Your photographs are beautiful, no doubt. But I come back to your blog to read your thoughts. They are always marvelous, make me think too!
