Some stories don’t have a beautiful beginning, or an end; sometimes a beautiful road doesn’t start with a clear sign of what we are going to perceive there. Some journeys are about not knowing the beginning, or how to reach the end. It’s that randomness of present and future that makes everything more compelling.
On weekend I didn’t follow my usual routine. It was just the end of one dark week- filled with strange people and their stranger actions; so, breaking my routine was the easiest way to stop another inundation.
I chose the nearest cafe and ordered the dish that I never ordered. Some fatty amazing things wrapped in a big omelet. After two servings of coffee and half a chapter of a favorite fiction in solitude, it was clear to me that most of the times happiness lies in these random choices. It lies in not knowing, not believing in predictions, not getting trapped in other’s lack of discernment, and in not controlling the hidden surprises waiting ahead.
Small things. Yes. They are the most beautiful things. Right? Your piece was written so beautifully, Nida. I checked it that day only. Thank you for sharing your wonderful wisdom 🙂
Somehow this song reminds me of cold foggy mornings.
Thank you for reading, Patrick. Being in the moment is something I try to achieve now and then. 🙂
Random things, yes, they are beautiful. Thank you for stopping by, Vincent.
That makes a wonderful memory for you right? Thank you, Itty, for sharing it here.
I just wrote in my recent blog, “She found God in the small things. That’s where HE smiled back.” In essence I meant to say exactly what you said here. Happiness in not knowing, in the random choices. Lovely thoughts as always Archita. Keep ’em coming!
My mother often sang this song.
Yes, I’ve noticed those random choices stir things up nicely. Sometimes life seems to offer them up, and that’s the best time to sing like Doris.
Thanks
Vincent
“Whatever will be, will be”. A simple reminder to be in the moment. Thanks for sharing your insight today!
Que sera sera was my childhood favorite song. It makes me nostalgic.
