“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
― Albert Einstein
Human beings do two mistakes almost all the time : 1. They try to be immortal , knowing they all come with unknown expiry dates . 2. They choose the easiest ways to immortality !
I have seen people writing their names ( alone or with their love) on hills, walls , historical monuments, pre-historic stones , close to raw natural beauties , as if those signatures will carry their identity to the future!
During our morning walk , this weekend , I found this tree , standing alone , bearing all these scratch marks by people who scribbled on a silent life.
This tree will be there for long , carrying all the symbols that prove – how scary and weird we human beings are and how forgiving nature is!

Thank you very much, Indira. That’s my honor to receive a title from you. 🙂 On a side note , my brother thinks I am aging fast and then in 10 years I’ll turn to a child again ( Have you read “Ha Ja Ba Ra La” by Sukumar Roy?- he applies a theory from that book :D)
But really , how people can be so cruel ! Yes, I love that quote.:)
Beautiful photograph Archita and very wise thoughts. Soma is my Guru mai and now you are also Archita mai with lovely philosophy. You youngsters are so wise and very well informed. Nice quote.
I agree with you, Carol.I’m hopeful about that too. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. 🙂
Exactly. And now when people ‘re civilized enough, they’re brutally writing on a tree. Thank you very much , Janet , for stopping by and sharing your thoughts 🙂
People have been writing on natural things forever. Just look at the caves paintings and similar things. The desire to have one’s name live on spans time. 🙂

Oh the human need to make our marks. Maybe we’ll grow up someday in the mean time it makes a lovely images that yo captured beautifully. Happy Monday.
Yes, I wonder how other people ignored it till now. Thank you, Vishal.:)
It’s a cruel world and people do not realize the silliness of their acts. Love this post, Archita:)
How true! Standing there , I felt exactly something similar. When one human does it – it can be called mistake , but so many things written on that poor soul – absolutely arrogance and cruelty !
Many have lost their connections to nature and even the Universe. There is no sensitivity, only arrogance and ignorance.
I agree with you. I wonder how people can be so insane!
It hurts to see a living thing treated so cruelly and disrespectfully.
Archita, always a pleasure to do so 🙂
I am very sad too. I will talk to the ranger about this pretty soon. 🙂 Thank you for stopping by, Arch. 🙂
I know. Nature is so forgiving. Thank you for stopping by , C.K 🙂
I have never seen people marking their names and love on a living thing. It’s scary and so sad. 😦
I am happy to be part of the fun, Sally. Amazing prompts and wonderful entries. Happy Phoneography Monday to you too.:)
Makes me feel so sad to see the tree. 😦 😦
Loved the last statement!
I have never seen so much scratched into one tree before! I love your last line, about how scary and weird humans are and how forgiving nature is, very true!
Amazing point to ponder on! I hope people wake up and learn the importance of nature!
Delighted to have you as part of the fun. Really enjoyed the image and post. Happy Phoneography Monday.
